Convening for its thirteenth meeting in St Paul-lez-Durance, France, the ITER Council noted that ITER construction and assembly are progressing but that the Project is entering a phase of unprecedented technical complexity and challenges. The Council received the results of the biennial Management Assessment; the ITER Council and the ITER Organization, together with the seven Domestic Agencies as a Unique ITER team, will now formulate and execute a plan of actions to improve overall Project performance in accordance with the Assessment’s recommendations. The ITER Council also approved two important technical proposals that will have a positive impact on the performance of the ITER Tokamak.
