A series of guidelines written by Bournemouth University and Intern Aware and supported by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), hopes to shed light on the rights of employers who take on interns. The guide, called ‘Making internships work - an intern’s guide’, offers advice on what interns should expect to receive and the rights they have when they take up positions in organisations. They also offer prompts to companies and businesses that hire interns and ‘work experience’ staff and act as a warning that all staff should be treated, and paid, properly.
