Malaria infects over 250 million worldwide and kills an estimated 660,000 annually -- mostly African children. Current anti-malaria efforts are largely focused on advanced science and vaccine development. But experts gathering this week at the Hebrew university of Jerusalem believe a parallel approach based on methods used in the past, may hold the key to eliminating malaria today. Participants will produce work plans for eliminating malaria in specific geographic and ecological situations – particularly in Africa.
